Kaijudo - Episode 3

The Duel Masters channeling their mana.

Mana is a form of life force energy in the Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters series as well as a game resource required to pay for the cost of the cards that you wish to play in the Trading Card Game.

TV Series[]

Mana is a magical energy that both Humans and creature kind possess. A living being naturally generates their own mana within their body, and the amount of mana a being has is directly related to their stamina.

The duelists of Kaijudo use mana to fuel their gauntlets, which they use to channel their mana into summoning and controlling creatures and casting spells. Creature use mana to fuel their special powers.

When a creature takes a significant amount of damage and their stamina, and therefore their mana, runs out, the creature will automatically banish itself back to the creature realm.

Mana naturally recharges itself over time, but a larger and more powerful creature needs more time for their mana to replenish. The creatures regularly summoned by the Duel Master can usually be summoned again the next day after their mana is depleted, but the Monarchs take much longer rejuvenate.

Trading Card Game[]

In the card game, Mana is usually referred to as the cards placed in your Mana Zone (which is placed below your Shields, Deck and Discard Pile.)

Mana Zone[]

The Mana Zone (placed as said above) is where cards are placed upside-down to pay for a cards level. There is no restriction as to what civilizations can be in your mana zone. On each turn, it is optional to place a card here. If you do, you may only place 1 card here at a time unless dictated by a card effect.

In order to play a card, you must have at least 1 card in your mana zone of the same civilization; in order to summon a Light creature, at least one card in your Mana Zone needs to be a Light card. However the same civilization card does not need to be one of the cards tapped to pay for the card you're playing.

In the case of a Multi-civilization card, putting one in your Mana Zone would unlock all Civilizations the card belongs to; a Water Fire card in your Mana Zone would fulfill the requirement to allow you to summon both Fire and Water creatures. However, to put a multi-civilization creature into the Battle Zone, you need cards with all of its civilizations in you Mana Zone; to summon a creature of Darkness Nature for example, you need both Darkness and Nature unlocked in your Mana Zone.

Level[]

The Level of a card (seen in the upper left-hand corner of a card) is the amount of mana (the number of cards in the mana zone) needed to use that card. In order to pay the cost, you Tap cards in your mana zone until the amount reaches the number on the card.

In the event that you still have cards in your Mana Zone, you can use the untapped cards to pay for another card. For example, if you have 8 cards in your Mana Zone and you put a level 5 creature monster into the Battle Zone, you would still have 3 untapped cards in your Mana Zone that you could use to summon a level 3 or lower creature or cast a level 3 or lower spell.
