The Order of the Kaijudo Duel Masters is an organization in the Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters series.
Details[]
The Order of the Kaijudo Duel Masters is an ancient organization thousands of years old. It was founded by five ancient mages who ended the Great Kaiju war by creating the Veil.
It is the purpose of the Kaijudo Order to protect the human realm from creatures that breach the Veil and cross over into the human world. The members of the order send these creatures home and close the veil breaches they came from.
Duelists tend to focus on learning about and dueling with creatures from one particular civilization. Of course there is no rule prohibiting a duelist from dueling with creatures of other civilizations. A duelist works best with the civilization whose general personality matches their own personality; for example, someone short-tempered and combative works best with Fire creatures.
Many duelists tend to have one creature in particular as their partner and signature summoning. However, as stated by Nigel Brightmore, a true Duel Master can summon whatever creature is best suited for the task at hand.
Rules[]
It was previously a rule of the Order that touching creatures was forbidden, riding them even more so. However, this rule was overturned after all that the Duel Masters have learned more about creature-kind thanks to Ray.
Because the creature realm is so vast and deadly, sightseeing trips there are forbidden. Crossing the veil should only be done when necessary.
As stated in The Rising, Part 1, it is against the rules of the order to get married. However, this rule does not seem to be strictly followed; Ken Okamoto broke this rule by marrying Janet, and Isao Okamoto broke the rule before that by marrying Kimiko Okamoto.
The most vital rule of the order is that the Kaijudo order and the creature realm be kept secret from the public at large. The order used Memory Swarm to remove the memories of anyone who found out. However, there were news crews seen filming the creatures as they returned to the creature realm in The Evolution Will Not Be Televised, so it is unknown if the secret of Kaijudo remained secret afterwards.
Traditions[]
The Siphon[]
Before the Choten woke the Monarchs, the most important and sacred undertaking for a Duel Master was The Siphon. To prevent the Monarchs from awakening, their mana had to be regularly drained. Each Duel Master could only drain the mana of the monarch of the same civilization they specialize in.
Performing The Siphon incorrectly could prove fatal. To prepare for the Siphon a master would meditate and fast for several days.
Once the mana has been drained, the master is vulnerable and unable to duel, in fact they can barely move, and their body is very hot from all the excess mana. It takes all their willpower and focus just to contain all that mana. However, it does seem that their senses are enhanced.
If the master loses control, the mana would explode out. The master would be incinerated instantly, along with everything in four square miles.
The master must return to the temple alter as soon as possible to discharge the mana, replenishing the veil in the process.
Bases[]
The Temple[]
The main branch of the Kaijudo Order operates out of an underground temple located in the city of San Campion. The main branch of the Kaijudo order is here because it is in that area where the five creature Monarchs fell into slumber thousands of years ago.
The inside of the temple is kept illuminated by numerous Star Sentinels.
Within the temple is a council chamber where the Duel Masters can meet and discuss various issues. In this chamber is a semi-circular table, and five chairs that have the logo's of the five civilizations on them.
Each of the masters has their own sanctum in the temple.
The temple library has five large shelves containing tablets with information about the creatures that live across the veil.
The temple stables have cages with various small creatures kept for training purposes or study.
Their is an arena in the temple where duelist can practice dueling each other.
There are large stone statues in the temple that depict previous Duel Masters.
The temple has an alter where one can discharge mana into the veil.
The temple has a smithing workshop where gauntlets are made.
There is a training area used for target practice.
There is a room in the temple where one can use the ley lines, paths where mana travels more easily through the world, to instantly travel across the world to any of the orders outposts. Different ley lines lead to different outposts.
Outposts[]
There are outpost temples located all over the world in places where the veil is weak, though only the ley line port of the Japanese outpost has been seen.
Ranks[]
Duel Master[]
The highest rank within the Order. There are five duelists who hold the title of Duel Master. Each of the Masters specializes in one of the 5 civilizations.
The Duel Masters are very skilled and powerful duelists, able to summon and control very large and powerful creatures, such as Earthstomp Giant and Hazard Crawler.
The five Duel Masters make up the council that leads the Kaijudo order. All other duelists answer to them.
